Polyvision: The History

The earliest glass artifacts were found in Egypt around 3500 BC, but it was not until four millenniums later that glass was used in making windows. However, the windows used were underdeveloped, ridiculously thick and roughly impossible to see through. Transparent glass, like we see today, was not invented until a millennia later.

Why Strong Demand and Tight Supply has caused Price to Soar

COVID-19 hit the global glass manufacturing sector hard, not only did Polytronix, Inc. Film & Glass Division have to temporarily halt our production floor operations to comply with government mandated lockdowns, so did our raw material manufactures and glass vendors. The industry saw some recovery in the second half of 2020, due to glass activities being deemed an essential service. The building market has been seeing longer lead times due to supply shortages and how prices have increases drastically for building materials.

Smart Tempered Glass

We Partnered with Anderson Glass, to create three glass shields, to protect the City of Hewitt Utility workers and customers from COVID-19.  The shield does not hinder customers and workers seeing and talking to each other, but does protect from getting sneezed or coughed on. With a combined 43.06 square foot of Polyvision® Smart Tempered Glass, only 1 power supply was essential. Partitions are seemingly everywhere these days, as they are recommended by the CDC and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
